Program Description: There are professional practice gaps in dental infection prevention and control (IPC), with a lack of awareness and inconsistencies of IPC practices in dental settings. This course is intended to educate dental personnel how to ensure a safe working environment utilizing IPC. Standard precautions for dental care will be identified and routes of transmission and prevention measures for infectious agents will be discussed with special consideration for the dental setting.

Program Description: This is a recording of the third LTC Juanita Warman Quarterly Nursing Grand Rounds event. This activity started as a Unit Practice Council initiative and was initially conducted as an annual conference. The decision to move from a one-day conference to quarterly grand rounds was made to meet the needs of the organization. The planning committee of the grand rounds seek to bring speakers of various expertise to help provide a diverse educational experience. We will have two speakers at this offering.

Program Description: Headache is the most commonly reported symptom following concussion. Over 80% of concussed service members have reported a post-traumatic headache and many describe the headache as significantly impacting their daily function and quality of life. This online course will train healthcare providers on how to evaluate and manage post-traumatic headaches by reviewing the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence Assessment and Management of Headache Following Concussion/Mild Traumatic Brain Injury clinical recommendation.

Program Description: Students who enroll in the Deployed Patient Safety Trainings are DoD Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve medical professionals from all Services who are required to complete training as a Patient Safety Manager or Leader/Champion before deployments. Additionally, Unit Officers in Charge (OICs) are trained as the appointed Patient Safety Professional. Classes provide “just-in-time” trainings 6 months before deployments, however, many do not seek a class until 1 month (short-notice).

Program Description: Traumatic brain injury can cause a variety of physical, psychological, and cognitive symptoms. Of reported post-concussive symptoms, headache is the most common and persistent. This activity, hosted by the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence, will improve knowledge and awareness of post traumatic headaches, recommended treatment strategies, and available resources.

Program Description: This course was designed to refresh and enhance existing knowledge of health care providers already familiar with the MACE 2. This training will teach learners how to use the MACE 2, a multimodal tool developed to assist providers in the assessment and diagnosis of concussion. Guidance on how to complete a concussion screening that includes a symptom assessment, cognitive examination, brief neurological exam, and the Vestibular/Ocular-Motor Screening included within the MACE 2 will be provided.

Program Description: This training will review commonly encountered mTBI associated dizziness and visual disturbances, preferred treatment options, and specialty referral considerations. Use of a diagnostic algorithm will guide providers through the initial assessment and targeted screening questions to identify if a more focused dizziness or visual assessment is necessary. The training will conclude with instruction on application of unique tests and maneuvers to aid in diagnosis and treatment of identified dizziness or visual disturbances.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support Review Course (2.5 clock hours): The PALS Review Course provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to assess, recognize, and care for pediatric patients who are experiencing a respiratory emergency, shock, or cardiac emergency.
