2024 Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Symposium

Program Description

The 2024 H2F Symposium is an event that brings H2F stakeholders together to foster information sharing, problem solving, and critical thinking to implement best practices and share lessons learned. Various sessions will be held throughout the day featuring a variety of disciplines that comprise the H2F interdisciplinary team, to include dietitians, physical therapy, occupational therapists, and athletic trainers. Each speaker will present on their area of concentration, discuss how it relates to other disciplines within the H2F system, and provide challenges and solutions to enacting an interdisciplinary human performance program. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of interdisciplinary roles and responsibilities within the H2F system and be more competent in creating and enhancing their H2F programs to improve health, fitness, readiness, and lethality of warfighters.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for athletic trainers, registered dieticians, dietetic technicians, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Summarize the impact of H2F principles to Soldiers.
  2. Understand that H2F teams minimize risk to Soldiers and optimize mission.
  3. Explain the benefits of Direct Access Care H2F teams provide to Soldiers.
  4. Outline the benefits of reporting injuries and early treatment.
  5. Discuss a leader’s role in encouraging mental readiness.
  6. Outline mental readiness domain factors.
  7. Summarize the core components of each mental readiness domain factor.
  8. Summarize science behind the Army Body Composition Study (ACBC).
  9. Discuss research-driven updates to Army Regulation (AR) 600-9 Policy.
  10. Outline the relationship of modern AR 600-9 on future Soldier health and injury.
  11. Discuss the consequences of sleep deprivation in the operational environment.
  12. Outline tools and techniques specific to an operational environment to mitigate fatigue.
  13. Describe the concept of sleep leadership and its implementation.
