Nellis AFB Dental: Non-Odontogenic Orofacial Pain: Management for the General Dentist
This activity explores the most common etiologies of non-odontogenic tooth pain within the scope of practice for a general dentist by utilizing case-based examples to identify and diagnose tooth pain that may arise from visceral, neuropathic, musculoskeletal, and otolaryngologic sources.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Describe orofacial pain of non-odontogenic origin, including musculoskeletal, neuropathic, visceral, and otolaryngologic etiologies.
- Explain clinical applications of diagnostic testing to develop differential diagnoses applicable within the scope of practice for general dentists.
- Identify strategies for patient management and utilize the collaborative nature of treatment outcomes to manage patients in a clinical setting.
