LaGuinn Sherlock, Au.D., is a research audiologist serving as a Hearing Program Studies Investigator for the Defense Centers for Public Health - Aberdeen, with duty at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Dr. Sherlock has spent over 30 years working as a clinical and research audiologist. Her experience with the civilian and military populations has facilitated a broad understanding of factors that influence successful clinical outcomes. She has studied the effects of hearing loss and hearing aids on speech understanding, localization ability and quality of life. Currently, her primary research interests are in the areas of tinnitus prevalence in the military, tinnitus screening and management protocols, and measurement of the functional impact of tinnitus using cognitive tests.

Dr. Sherlock has been recognized by the Military Audiology Association for her contributions to the advancement of research in hearing sciences, and by the U.S. Army Public Health Center for her achievements as a civilian employee. She previously served on the American Tinnitus Association’s (ATA’s) Board of Directors, including a term as chair of the board, and is currently serving on the ATA’s Scientific Advisory Committee. She also played a key role in developing the ATA’s Tinnitus Advisors Program which provides guidance, information and support for people with tinnitus, and has served as an advisor since the inception of the program.
